Hey, cool. I'm looking forward to the original documents.
I am not a fan of this tag. There is a fatalism to this tag, a resignation to the idea that this new era of insanity is now steady-state, rather than an a kink in an otherwise long arc toward justice. "this is our world now" is what people who have given up fighting say. I went with #whiterabbit. We are through the goddamn looking glass and the only animal in this administration is a MUTHERFUCKING WHITE RABBIT (well, and Steve Bannon who might be an orc). I recognize that things are batshit crazy right now, but we're all acknowledging that things are batshit crazy, and it appears that even the staunchest supporters of this travesty of a presidential term are looking for a soft landing. Alice makes it back. She wakes up. The whole crazy thing is a dream. I'm not in denial of this shit - I mean, as a fan of politics this shit is legit Must See TV - but i refuse to accept the normalization of it. Fuck this tag.
I coined the tag, and while I wasn't thinking that hard about it I think fatalism is justified, because Donald Trump isn't where we started getting sick, he's where we started pissing blood and couldn't ignore it anymore. Mayberry is dying and it wants to take the rest of us with it, and both congress and the electoral college are weighted in its favor.
Their death, however, shall precede ours unless we fuck up royally. I get what you're saying- but you're wrong. Up until about 9pm election day we were all resigned (with various degrees of excitement or dread) to another four years of a neoliberal Democrat globalist who, at a bare minimum, was the most qualified person to ever run for the office. 538 had her at 70%. Huffington Post had her at like 95%. Trump was grabbing women by the pussy and the majority of observers didn't even think it'd be close. What we've had since then has been an object lesson in the effects of inexperienced narcissism on democracy. Very few of the people on Trump's team have been elected to so much as an HOA board and fewer of them have gone as far as running a quinceanera, let alone a country and nobody - nobody on the right, nobody on the left, nobody on the middle - wanted an inexperienced narcissist to head our country. They wanted the great negotiator. They wanted the billionaire CEO. They wanted the mighty and powerful Wizard of Oz and while there are still plenty of people out there who aren't quite willing to face the fact that they got a tired old man with a short attention span? Every single one of us senses that this is not what was supposed to happen.
Yes. To celebrate the end of another terrible semester, I spent the weekend with my large, conservative, rural family pretending that Trump is a normal dude. It's been a very bad time. ['X0Oo_am_Unitoinz'_e-hubski_bAdtimes_diary_oO0X'] post 5/?...we're all acknowledging that things are batshit crazy.
