There was some blowy article on Pitchfork this week about Jason Molina... and of course I ate it up. Been listening to Songs: Ohia: On the other end of the spectrum, Kraftwerk. Good study/pre-test music. Gets me in the zone.
Songs: Ohia is a mesmerizing band. Hold On Magnolia is my favorite song off that album. Have you ever listened to the couple of Townes covers Jason Molina recorded?
When I'm at my local grocery store, I will often see the lead singer for Iron and Wine. Saw him a few minutes ago. Listened to this song on the way home:
Dude York has put out one of the best albums of the year so I've mostly been listened to that and stuff like Suicide, The Feelies, etc etc.
https://djpod.com/darkambientmusic/dark-ambient-music-ep08-ethereal-and-avantgarde I limit myself to podcasts for privacy reasons, and mostly listen to random ambient in the background while I write. This particular episode has been looping for a few weeks, and contains a mistitled Steven Roach song that I can't seem to find anywhere on the internet. Whoever created the podcast seems to have given up after 8 episodes, adding to a long list of abandoned podcasts that I still listen to on a regular basis.
It's free and easily accessible, so you don't have to provide payment information or have your email spammed to death. Avoiding the streaming sites means not worrying about possible tracking or invasive cookies. I'm overly cautious, but it works if the music your finding is acceptable to your tastes. Listening to random currated music shows is akin to music discovery on a site like Pandora, but most importantly without the endless commercials and ad spam.
Nice. I was thinking the answer was somewhere along these lines, I appreciate you clarifying it for me. I also love to listen to music podcasts, but sometimes the curation can be a little off for the mood I'm going for, or else there's an album or artist that I want to specifically listen to, which brings me back to apple music. Glad there are people like you out there willing to resist this temptation!

Televisor - Break Loose ft. Splitbreed, Volant Remix Can't identify with the lyrics at all (stupid in love, here), but the song is choon. Minor #bugski: putting parentheses inside the brackets, like "(Volant Remix)", breaks the link.
The hype train is at full speed. Portugal. the Man has a new album coming out in a month and a half. They just released a third single from the album, Number One. In addition, they've released Feel it Still and Noise Pollution I've already pre-ordered the album.
