Blink 182 wasn't that bad haha. This is probably the 13 year old nostalgia speaking within me but I liked Adam's Song and Feeling This. Couldn't stand All The Small Things though.
And down the rabbithole I went. Wow. I think GQ has my favorite take. I sincerely hope "Anna Conrad" is a real journalist, and I wish and pray that she's related to Joseph... even if she never made it out of Miami.
I see three possibilities: 1) It was said in jest, or frustration, or exhaustion, and does not actually reflect the viewpoint of a thinking human being. 2) She stone-cold made it up. The whole article has a Jayson Blair/Janet Cooke kinda vibe. 3) There really are people that self-absorbed, and they're the ones most likely to go to an image-centric starfuckerfest promoted largely by instagram personas.
This whole thing seems absurd. A rich festival organized by Ja Rule with Blink-182 as one of the lead acts? It sounds like something from the early 2000s that would have been on Myspace. Yet despite all promises of glamour, it turns out to be nothing much than the equivalent of a high schooler's backyard party that was only thrown because his parents were gone for the entire weekend in another country.
