Can any real die-hard star wars fans comment on this? and also the force awakens? am I the only one that thinks this is poop..
I wouldn't call myself a die-hard, but I too found TFA to suck ... was just lazy at best. Rogue One was better, but still not great. I'm not going to be the slightest bit surprised if this is just a shot-for-shot remake of Empire just like TFA was a re-do of A New Hope. They also seem to have given away the big plot point (twist?) in the teaser: Luke's going to say that they need someone who's balanced between the light side and the dark rather than a Jedi, who's just light. I doubt I'll see this one in the theaters, since even professional reviews can't be trusted not to be riding the Star Wars Peen.
In all seriousness, I actually blame the extended universe for this, both what is now known as legends as well as the new canon. The books, the videogames, etc. A lot of that stuff is fun and exciting, but it also creates a very inconsistent narative and inconsistent rules for the universe. As a result, Star Wars fans have a ton of material to work with to create fan theories, head canon, etc. Which in general, is all well and good, but for some of the more vocal Star Wars fans, they're really attached to some of their views of what the Star Wars universe should look like and how it should operate. So when a new movie comes out, easily the most important Star Wars product there is both in financial terms as well as story telling terms, and it doesn't jive with what they're expecting, the don't like it as much. I've argued in the past that TFA is just a flawed movie, and I'm fine with that. Some of the more out there arguments against the movie though . . ? I just wanna say "Easy guys. It's just a story."Still plenty of fans will be upset.
Yeah. I used to be a huge Star Wars fan growing up. Then my enthusiasm for it was dormant for about 10 years, until I saw the teaser for TFA. I wasn't really all that excited until I saw the Millenium Falcon and all of a sudden everything came rushing back. If you haven't, you should check out the CGI Clone Wars series. It's wonderfully done and more than makes up for the prequel trilogy.
Thoughts. In order . . . For realsies though, the Force Awakens was actually kind of flawed in execution. It jumped at weird points and some scenes could have benefited greatly from just another minute or two of development. That said, once you've watched it twice and know the flaws are coming, it's a much more enjoyable film. It's very light hearted. As an aside, Rogue One, on the other hand, I was expecting to be kind of lame. It turned out to be much better than TFA. The surprise space battle at the end was just icing on the cake. Edit: Did you see the Thor: Ragnarok trailer? Holy shit, that movie is gonna be amazing.Meh. Meh. OMG! SPACE BATTLE! Meh. Oh. That was short.
Just watched the trailer, and that one I am excited about.
Thanks! I have not been able to watch Rogue One yet but what you said is what everyone is saying so I can't wait. Just watched the Ragnarok trailer, while I'm not a Marvel movie guy that was awesome from start to finish.
