I had this on a play list. The kid immediately latched onto it.
It's a great track but it puzzles me that she bites at this after I've tried to get her into Sister Nancy's BAM BAM for months and she is still lukewarm about it.
My daughter wanders around the house muttering this, gaelic and all: She's got a thing for incomprehensible lyrics. For some reason she attached hard to Cranes, which she tries to sing to my wife, who does not listen to Cranes, and which is sometimes in French.
We don't listen to a ton of music (mostly since I listen to a lot of fairly dark stuff and I'm worried about my daughter repeating the lyrics). I remember when she was much younger she really responded to highly rhythmic things. So she really liked anything from Portishead to Combichrist. She seemed to like Coil a lot, too.
If you have any hope that your daughter will have the joy of playing music with real competence someday you need to expose her to her lots of it. When my kid was a baby we used to play her hard minimalist Detroit techno to put her to sleep. It would knock her down for a nap like hitting her with a tranquilizer dart.
Yeah, I'm moving in that direction (just dumped a bunch of music onto my phone yesterday). Figure lots of They Might Be Giants right now....
