A customer dropped these speakers off at the shop for me on my day off. He said "Put these in the tip jar" and left. I have no idea who left them aside from the a physical description (tall blond guy).
There are no markings of any kind on them. They must have been mass manufactured by the looks of the plastic. They sound pretty good at lower volumes, I haven't cranked them up yet.
They have quadrilateral symmetry with the speaker pointing up towards the ceiling.
I just switched that Realistic Amp out at the shop for a newer Dennon because the Realistic didn't have enough inputs after I added a tape player. I'm glad I did because it looks good with these kooky speakers.
I have mentioned to a few customers that I needed a set of speakers for my game room at home, lamenting the fact that I had an extra amplifier and turntable but needed to pick up something for them to play through. I guess this guy was listening with his heart.
I love everything about these. I'll see if I can find something out about them. Edit: RCA 150X
Ooo vintage hifi. And IKEA Expedit. Hitting close to my heart here. I don't have much more to add than that, but I you ever want to talk 1960s tube hifi, let me know. I'm currently running a classic McIntosh setup, an MX110 tuner/preamp and to MC30 power amps. I also have a few HH Scott integrated amps not hooked up (and maybe not working). While I absolutely love the sound, I'll be the first to admit I could get something modern and objectively better for less money. But it wouldn't glow and be all chrome and black and sexy and require careful maintenance.
I've got a motley bunch of audio equipment. A few Dennon Amplifiers because everything I've ever owned from them has worked flawlessly for ever. First component CD player I ever owned was Dennon and it lasted for 30 years of moves and constant use before I gave it away. My other decent turntable is a 70's Sanyo. I have a nice set of Paradigm speakers at the shop and total shit speakers hooked up to the TV. I don't watch the TV very often and it's good enough for the wife and kid. I have few junky garage sale turntables and amps around as backups if anything fails at the shop or at home. I should by a back up coffee brewer for the shop before I hoard old AV equipment but I guess I'm dumb like that. I feel like you have to spend significant money to get better modern audio equipment than you can get at garage sales or ebay. It's hard to find an affordable 2 channel amp let alone one with a phono preamp. Everything affordable is geared toward video multi channel, which I could care less about.
Oh yea, the turntable is Technics 1200 that once belonged to ecib. It was packed away for the last two years. The 45 record adapter seems to have gone missing and damn if those things aren't kinda pricy ($20). It's OK because I usually play 45's on this. Underneath is about 2/3 of my non 45 records. All generas, lots of crap, some fantastic stuff. I have a few crates at the shop, a few crates in another room.
The 12 looks great with your setup! I had mine in storage for a bit but it's been out and in use since M and I have lived together. Shamefully I've never replaced the needle since the early 90's when I bought them. It sounds fine but I just feel like that's a huge no-no...
