Complaining about how language is used is almost always pointless. Wether you agree with a certain usage is largely irrelevant if you can derive the speakers intention from it. By taking all of the examples out of their respective registers and examining them with a different formality than intended by the speaker it's relatively easy to poke fun at their usage.
Whilst I agree that some phrases can be incredibly irksome this kind of lexical snobbery attempts to stifle evolution of language.

Language will continue to evolve, there is really no way to stifle it, nor should we want to try. I think that this is merely poking fun at the manner. People may text or type WTF, but when they speak they still have to say the complete phrase, 'What the Fuck.'

I don't disagree with you. I wasn't particularly interested in the article so much as having a platform to state my grievance with the phrase "living the dream". Also on that list of "shudder-able utterances, "I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you". -argh!
