I should have figured the one potential silver lining of this administration would be a mirage.

On a related note, many voted for Bernie, and then Trump, or Bernie and then no one, because Hillary was perceived as woefully aligned with special interests. However, if we take a historical perspective, the U.S. is currently at a point with a historically low amount of corruption and injustice. It's a sad fact, but it is a fact nonetheless, made plain if you try to find another point in its history with less corruption and injustice.

A Trump presidency is not going to collapse and leave us with a clean slate. We can descend down this path of more corruption and less justice for generations.

do you have a source?

One wouldn't cover it, nor would any one study justify the claim. It's a case that is made from the study of the history of US politics, journalism, business, judicial system, etc. Pick an earlier time and compare it with the present.

this is where my conspiracy theorist bullshit card is played.

Looking at corruption and injustice through the lense of the media today is not accurate.

On the one hand I think that the long arc of time bends towards justice. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if the trend towards less corruption would be halted for a term or two. Spending a bajillion dollars to build toll roads is definitely a good way to put a lot of taxpayer's money in the wrong hands.
