We literally just got done watching The Book of Life for our stay at home, Halloween date (Over the Garden Wall is next up for when we both have another day off work together). It was a fun movie, kind of cute. I'm just kind of sad that they played a bunch of pop songs throughout instead of taking the opportunity to introduce kids to some classic Mexican Folk Music. But, you know, that's Hollywood for you. Now I want to try and discover some classic Mexican folk music but don't even know where to start. So I guess in the mean time, there's David Wax Museum, which is at least inspired by, in a white, hipster kind of way. Are they fun? Yes. Real deal? No. But let's be fair here, this could be a new rabbit hole for me. Against Me! got me listening to guys like Mississippi John Hurt and Leadbelly all those years ago.
