- Don’t say you weren’t warned: Aug. 21, 2017, “may turn out to be the most popular vacation-day request in history,” Michael E. Bakich writes in Discover magazine — so you may want to get that time-off request in early.
FUCKING HELL YEA ABOUT ALL THIS. Already got my cabin rented, already got three alternate viewing areas, already got the teaching with the Scouts set up. I've been ready for this for a year now. We are now helping alert all the small towns out in Redneckistan to prepare for the event and the invasion of tourists. Calling placed down there we either get "wut the hell is an eeee-clipse" or we get "HELL YEA THIS IS GOING TO BE AMAZING" and very little in between. August is going to be bonkers out here.
Where are you going? I'll be in Tennessee, near longest totality.
I'm going to be in Western Kentucky. I do not want to be anywhere near Nashville, St. Louis, Kansas City (my first three possible choices) as they are going to be swamped if the weather is clear. The place we got is going to turn off all the lights and we are going to have a star party that Saturday night with some of the scouts. Already got the time off work as well.
