I promise that this prompt was on my list before I told Hubski about my August plan.
Also, I really enjoyed reading everyone's responses yesterday! Thanks for playing, and keep at it. Even if you miss some days here or there, nobody is counting.

Prompt #28: Write a poem to Lil.
Note: It doesn't have to be a poem. Just write something for/to Lil.
Even through the screen it shows. Lil. But not little. I met a big heart.
Happy almost birthday! Hope you had a wonderful dinner
"Lil Is The Best" Or even something that stinks When I cook up a plate Or mix up a drink When I write a new poem Or make a podcast When I mix a meethubski Or start any new task When I'm finished I'll stop I'll reflect and just chill And think, "man I can't wait to share this with lil!" P.S. You're always there for my hockey A sincere "thank you" lil. You rule.
--- When I make something I like
You're so nice, never cocky
Poem to Lil Seeing me on the sidelines She stepped out of the parade Placed herself in front of me Looked me in the eyes, Her mouth, a sneer Said, what happened to you -- You used to care about making a difference More activist than archivist More marcher than watcher --- It was me - I thought, I can't be in two places at once but There I was staring me down Haughty, self-important As if her parade was the only one with a band. I don't march in other people's parades, I said. I start my own. Not lately, Lil snapped back. Who do you think you are, criticizing me? I said. --- Well get with a program. Lil said, Any program. I lost my footing and fell into her. Even when the ground is shifting, she said, you still have to stand on it. --- I told Lil to cool her jets, to chill. You're creating a dualism, I said. Reject the binary. --- Easy for you to say, Lil said back. Who do you want to be? Now. That. You. Have. A. Chance. --- You've got a point, I said. The Venn Diagram of me and me should be one huge overlapping circle. --- Go back to your parade, I said to Lil. I'll catch up. Soon. --- My Bifurcated Life Inspired by mivasairski's dream about running into an angry version of himself and having a fight.
A Poem for lil: a woman I met online once or twice we had a video chat I find her terribly alluring she puts me in my place when needed but hugs me in virtuality too she is a harbor in the storm even when she's in a storm she's a rock even when she's being smashed by bigger rocks her humor cuts through me her sincerity and bravery cuts deeper her care of others, deeper still I love lil . . a lil-ku: a woman of peace substantively amazing always inspiring
Here is mine. I kind of took the prompt and responded in a more dramatic way so I almost seem like an absent lover or something - sorry lil, I love ya but not in that way - however I think the right sentiment is mostly there. I may do this again to try and get a "more accurate" tone, but more importantly, I want lil to feel loved and know she is in my thoughts, so I am posting!
I sat in front of the computer for a long while trying to write a poem, but I'm honestly the worst at them. They either come out far too corny, or they are just a big mess. I wanted to write something for lil though. I don't know her too well from my time on Hubski, but I like to think her along with a few other members embody what the site as a whole is really all about. Her advice, her words, and her input on any subject always seemed to be thoughtful, and worded well. I like to believe that lil does her part in creating a more thoughtful web for us all. I still feel bad about the whole poem deal so here we go: Lil I don't know her very well But from what I can tell Her words provoke thought Knowledge always sought Thank you lil, For pushing back The dark.
lil: You're a kind soul at worst, And your path is through hell, With no matter what anyone felt. I don't know you inside, But whatever you feel, One who says you deserve it is ill. But you're strong and you're brave. You remain nonetheless. We will tell you you're doing your best. You will act on those words, We know surely this much, On behalf I will tell you of such. You have friends among us, As you must be aware. To whomever might threat her - beware. May your French be the best. You're not hopeless at all, And the sorrows will pass after all.
