So now my question. Assume you have the know how to work in the weapons industry, would you? And why?
After I graduated with my physics undergraduate, the Navy sent me a letter inviting me to become a nuclear sub engineer. They said I didn't even have to shave my hair! As an aside, I do believe that the more people communicate across boundaries like this, the harder it is going to be to kill us. Imagine if there were a bunch of afghanis here, sharing stories and videos. It's tougher for a government to create an enemy when you know something about them.
Luckily, I won't get an invitation from the Dutch army, since they are busy laying people off :P (and my engineering skills are of no use to the army directly)
- The problem is however, that most of the wars nowadays are between countries which are digitally separated. For example, China has its own internet. Israel is also busy to make that a reality.
I agree it's a big problem. And IMO, the ones that push hardest for control are the ones that have the most to lose by transparency. The people of the world need to work hard to keep lines of communication open between them.
But if I may ask, what made you question your line of work?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_causes_of_death_by_rate lets face it we are not capable of settling things like a race of beings i would call Human. there are benefits to war Medical scientific advancements have been made because of war. making weapons better more accurate decreases casualties and collateral damage. People forget the bigger picture people demand a way of life this requires resources take away cheap Oil gas electric make everything expensive and stop importing food and the people will be demanding wars. Ill just leave this here ยป http://youtu.be/9w3E3eFMsLg
People indeed demand a certain standard of living, but I think with the recent crises, the west is learning that even their standard of living is not a given. They will have to work for it. I hear people complain that they can't buy the latest gadgets. They need a new phone, because theirs is already a year old. We can do a lot to change this. People just need to be eased into the thought that they don't have the right to a cheap new phone. They want a complete computer in their pocket? You'll have to pay. You want cheap petrol? Not possible, fund an electric car. Oh, electricity is also expensive? Go and create cheap sustainable energy sources. The problem is solvable, now go and fix it. Sorry for the long ramblings, but I remain hopeful that one day, the problems will be fixed and war is no longer necessary, since there is always another way to fix the problem. As for religious wars, those idiots just need to learn that religion is not important enough to start a war over.
