And quite happy about it, apparently:
The weekend was amazing... catered backyard BBQ on Friday for the family, the wedding on Saturday, and Sunday brunch with close family. Then my wife and I headed off to eastern Washington to hang out in Mighty Tieton for a couple of days of quiet, napping, reading, hiking along the Natchez River with our dog, and just generally enjoying being somewhere with zero cell phone reception or internet.
I'm pretty blissed-out about the whole thing, and enchanted with my wife and my life.
Thanks for listening, Hubski!
goob is being impossibly modest. Somewhere on his facebook feed there's a shot from a documentary about Burning Man ONE with him in it. I'd post it but (A) rude (B) he takes photos more often than I take bathroom breaks so obfuscation by volume is an effective strategy with him. Regardless, he and the missus have a vast and storied panoply of friends and acquaintances and they treated us all very well. Great food, great booze, a great venue and when you tell your 'burner friends to "dress as suits your personal style" well, suffice it to say that I was able to wear a halloween costume and my wife resurrected her wedding corset. One of the best weddings I've been to and more than worth the 2000-mile commute.
Woohoo! Why on a Sunday? We chose this date specifically (July 9) because it was the 7th anniversary of our first date, and my parents' 51st wedding anniversary. So it was 2 years from Engaged to Married, but only because we wanted our date on a Saturday.
Well done! Just from that photo I can tell that you are an awesome couple. Congrats pal!
I was wondering how people would react to a blue wedding dress, but everyone just loved it!! She has olive skin and curly dark hair and blue eyes, so when she asked me what she should wear for the wedding, I said, "You look like a greek goddess already, so let's get a dress that emphasizes that!" And she was immediately on-board with the idea. The nice thing is that it is a bridesmaid's dress so it was, like $150, instead of $3000!! My tuxedo cost 10x what her dress cost!! So yeah... a blue wedding dress. So pretty!
Thank you! People tend to ask me "so what are you going to wear, due to my long history of crazy outfits. But this time I wanted to be respectful of my wife, so I went with a basic Calvin Klein single-button, shawl-collar tuxedo. But I made sure the shirt studs matched her dress, and I went with the non-traditional "Continental Tie" because I'm just not the tie-wearing type. The Continental tie was the perfect compromise... looked good, "finished" the top of the shirt nicely, and didn't make me feel overheated and throttled. Win!
