A lot of Hubski's greatest Hubsquids are coming up on 1,000 days soon.
As it turns out, I have to beat them to the 1,000-day post, because this Monday, Day 999, I'll be at West Point at 0600 getting mentally and physically pounded into the dirt. It's gonna be a bitchin' good time, but I won't have phone or internet for 6.5 weeks so it's time to say peace out now!
Listen, Hubski. You guys are some special, special stuff. There's nothing like Hubski, anywhere. Even if you think there is. I love you all and I really, genuinely, sincerely would have been unable to achieve and get to where I'm about to go now, if it wasn't for the help, support, and criticism from some really insightful mf's.
It's been real, Hubski. Happy 1,000 to one of the better reddit waves in Hubski history ;) Wish y'all the best, and PM me if you'd like the address to which I'll be receiving written letters from friends and family while undergoing Cadet Basic Training.
See you in September!

Keep on kicking ass!!! Expect a care package. Also you, me and coffeesp00ns all made our accounts on the same day. The more you knoooooow.
Damn yeah it is. I went through Basic Combat Training the summer of 1999, and I still have vivid (not bad) memories of it. For me, it was the first time doing something on my own and succeeding at it. Yeah, it was mentally and physically tough, but it's a good kind of tough. I have no idea how it compares to cadet training, but I imagine the basics are universal. I'm certain I could still strip an M-16 with my eyes closed. And if I was careful, put it back together with my eyes closed. They never drilled us on that, but we spent a lot of time cleaning them. So now I'm poking around the aerial photography of Fort Jackson. It's been a long time. All the best. A more thoughtful officer is a great addition to the United States Army. It's gonna be a bitchin' good time
It can't be too far off from what you went through! "A good kind of tough" is exactly what I'm in for. Thank you!
Be well my friend. I'd be glad to know where I could send you mail -TNG
I know I am a little late but I will say this anyways: see you soon and good luck.
I'm really excited for you! I expect you are going to have some rough days so take the advice that I never took / take when I'm overwhelmed. Try to enjoy every moment or live every moment. If you can't enjoy it, do your best to get through it gracefully and then reflect on it to see if you could do it better in the future. Even the most terrible moments will be something that you remember, and chances are your best friendships will be built during the most trying times. The only difference between an adventure and an ordeal is your attitude.
