Kidding. I probably shouldn't even joke about that...
Just kidding. I do have a more than account, but I don't use the others except for the very occasional goofing around. Maybe once a month or so. I have two Reddit accounts. I don't fault Alexis and Steve for doing what they did. I am well aware of how difficult it is to build an active community from scratch (and they even had Paul Graham telling all of his friends to check Reddit out). At least they are open about it now, although I doubt they would have been if you asked them in those early days. On a side note, I view an account more as a tool than as a registration. Of course most of us choose to nurture one persona, but I think pseudo-anonymity is extremely useful. For example, if there is a Hubski conversation about child abuse, someone might find it worthwhile to make another account to share a personal story. The same goes for politically sensitive topics. Btw, I do kind of miss kb. I didn't always agree with him, but I always read what he had to say.
As far as kleinb, he was very interesting, and despite the fact that I called him out on his (legendary amounts of) bullshit, I'd have no problems enjoying his posts were he here. I tolerated his rudeness towards me untill he attacked one of the other hubskiers (forget his name now). Can't help it. I just can't stand bullies. If he was thick skinned enough to hang around while getting called out berating and attacking other people I'd still be enjoying his other posts to this day :) Ah well, he could dish it out anyway.
Anonymity is a good thing for sensitive topics, I agree. I also like that I have no idea what the majority of Hubskiers look like but I do know what they are passionate about. I have more conversations with some hubskiers than I do some of my closest friends. -To that end, I too miss kb, he was an interesting dude. Remember when I thought you were alpha0?
That said, I'm enjoying the crew we have right now on Hubski and some of the things going on: book club and the film club. Site is getting better all the time imo.
