Reading lessismore's recent post about unplugging from social media, I remembered this episode from Conan illustrating my disdain for two things: local news media and fb...
Enjoy.

Well there are this and this. Just a sample from a quick DDG Search.
It seems like my great idea for the day is not all that original. Registrant:

There should be some actual reporting in local news, but there is not. It's almost like one guy wrote a crap story and sold it to a bunch of networks to get his dog website some traffic. I don't want to sound paranoid, but I can hardly believe this was an accident -- however funny and potentially embarrassing.

My guess is that there is an AP for "cuteness" that they all pull from. Keep in mind that they are all owned by the same conglomerates, could be that the parent company has equity in a dog-social media site?

I never knew slight differences in emphasis could be so damn funny.

Exactly, it's as if their only form of creativity or ingenuity is to add more inflection to a syllable. I have never been able to stomach local news reporting. Even at a young age I can recall thinking, "why does anyone watch this"?

For the first 5 or 6 years that we lived in Denver we noticed that no evening news broadcast was complete without a "Columbine" story and a dog story. The Columbine thing has finally died out, but the dog material just keeps on giving...even after a local anchor was bitten on the face while oochie cooing a traumatized dog up close.
I guess I'll never understand why animals are news stories.
