A little over a month ago, thenewgreen issued to hubski a challenge -- to eat with another hubskier.
_refugee_ happens to be an hour away and offered to break bread with me in Baltimore. Others nearby in DC or Philly may be interested, like arguewithatree and meriadoc and greenitalics and wasoxygen.
The date: Saturday, April 2nd, sometime in the mid-afternoon or evening. We can go absolutely anywhere tasty but to start the conversation, two places I recommend are Birroteca, a craft-beer & wine and fancy pizza place with accommodating parking for those driving, and Koco's Pub, a mom-and-pop restaurant with the best crab-cakes around. But I would go anywhere :)
If this date and time don't work, we can also shoot for another weekend. Grubski 2016!
weird i didn't get the shout out for this. Meriadoc and I are trying to get to Baltimore for Light City this weekend so maybe we can intersect??
It's a little up in the air right now because the gal who invited us had some sort of family emergency so it might not be an all day affair. Definitely trying to make it to the Dan Deacon concert at 11 though so dinner would be fantastic. ETA: saturday is the day in case that's what you were asking
Oh snap, a Dan Deacon show. I've seen him once or twice and he's a talented dude. You guys should have a lot fun. Let's shoot for a bite sometime before the show. How does 7 or 8 sound?
that will work! shoot us a PM closer to saturday and we can coordinate
So I had literally never heard of Dan Deacon before reading this.
This is one of my favorite animated music videos of all time. When I Was Done Dying - Dan Deacon edit: that's a fantastic tiny desk concert set. Feel the Lightning is a crowd favorite, I think I've heard that song the most but it's different every time he plays it live. Dan Deacon is a Baltimore staple. I've seen him in the most random places for shows. Great guy.
Meriadoc went to his when I was done dying show in DC a lil while back and the whole thing sounded like a lot of fun. I'd be way more open to seeing him at the Inner Harbor though than 9:30 club where he was because indoor concerts/crowds give me the heebs
All this Dan Deacon talk makes me want to go. I think I know of some friends that are going to the show so we may be in the same crowd after dinner \m/
I'm telling you, man, I've been to literally hundreds, possibly thousands of shows. Nothing I've ever been to has compared to seeing him. There is an unreal energy about every single aspect of his shows. I can't fathom what he has planned for a free festival, in his home, with the lit up inner harbor.
You should!! That would be like extra credit on the grubski challenge haha
I'll be sure to log sticker locations. And shoot me a message when you're in Baltimore next, I might be free!
