As much as I hope for privacy and respect for his family at this time, I can't deny that I think politics in Toronto will be significantly improved with his passing.

Dude never ceased to surprise. Gonna guess "cancer" was pretty far down the list of "things Rob Ford is likely to die of."

definitely a few dozen below "diabetes" and one or two above "gangland violence". My most likely thought was "death by misadventure".

For all of the shit thrown at Rob Ford, however, there are a few undeniable goods he did in his life.

1.) As a councillor, He was accountable to his constituents. He was one of the few politicians whom, if you contacted, not only would you receive a response, you would receive a response from HIM personally. He might even call you back. In Municipal politics (in Canada at least), this is almost unheard of.

2.) If he said he was going to do it, he'd do his damnedest to do it. Man of his word, for good or bad. His brother, on the other hand, is a sketchy mofo.

3.) He was there for his community. He coached a local high school's hockey team, and football team. He was integrated and intimately involved in his ward, and it's no wonder why the majority of his constituents loved him.

Dude was a shit mayor, and set Toronto's infrastructure back 10 years. I'll never deny he gave a fuck about his ward though.
