Jethro's Teeth
When Jethro was a little boy he never brushed his teeth
He ate chocolate and ice cream, hot fudge and hard candy
He drank milkshakes and cola..(some call it pop, some call it soda)
He ate the caramel around apples and the frosting off cake and as he got older the candy would take
his teeth out of his gums the taffy would carry
His bicuspids his molars, he began to look scary
His canines came out, his incisors did too
He was down to three teeth and then just the two
You would think that a boy with just two teeth
Would care for them both and watch what he eats
But not Jethro, he still refused to brush
Till one day his teeth said, "we've had enough."
Tooth 1 said, "I'm leaving," to tooth number 2
Tooth 2 said, "wait up cause I'm coming too."
They jumped out of his mouth and ran for the door
They no longer lived in his mouth anymore
Tooth 1 and tooth 2 opened up a small store where they sold dental floss, wooden teeth and much more
They opened a shop down in Ft. Myers Beach
Where they sold wooden teeth to the retirees
They worked all week long and played golf on the weekends
They played cards with their neighbors
And made many-new-good friends
The years passed them by and though they were happy
They wondered what became of that boy that ate taffy?
"That boy who never brushed what happened to him," tooth 1 asked tooth 2, sincerely concerned.
"I do not know," tooth 2 said to his friend
But I do know I'm tired and I'm ready for bed
Five years went by till one day it happened
There entered a man to the store that looked frightened
"Do you remember me?" Asked the man to the teeth
"I was the boy that you decided to leave"
I've come here today to say that I'm sorry
I shouldn't have treated you both so poorly
They all hugged and laughed and played cards till dawn
The man moved in with them and helped with the lawn
And though Jethro had no teeth in his mouth he now lived with the teeth that years ago had moved out.
