I haven't watched Jessica Jones, just because it doesn't really seem up my alley. However, I did absolutely love the first season of Daredevil and I'm glad there's a second one. Though I have to say, I'm kind of sad the trailer didn't show anything worthwhile.
War, PlaceboEffect, Existentialist, shouting out to you guys for your enjoyment of comic book films.
I concur. Haven't had a chance to give JJones the once over yet, but it looks good. And the whole David Tennant villain role had me a little excited even if he IS a little over-the-top-if-not-a-little-mind-rapey. I'm actually STILL missing out on DD due to my aversion to horribly acted CW style tv shows for the DC heroes thus far. It just seems like cheap exploitation of good comic material (I'm looking at you, Supergirl and Flash), with poorly acted roles, subpar special effects budgets, and terribly soap opera plotlines and overly contrived "new spins" on what was a perfectly good canon plot. Alas, its the problem most film adaptations suffer from: trying to be "different in a new way", in a very special snowflake fashion. In Flash's defense, it's gotten a LOT better in terms of plot and SFX budget and acting skill. But it's still not at a point where I can get through an episode without a groan or a headshake or two. I WANT to like these things. But my common sense knows better.
I cancelled my Netflix account, so I only saw about the first half of season one. I like Charlie Cox. That's really all I can remember from it... Also, yeah, this looks more like a teaser trailer than a usual TV spot.
The whole cast for Daredevil was great. Everyone felt very natural in their roles, so I'm pretty confident that Season 2 will be very similar. My face when watching this trailer . . . :-D :-) :-| :-\Also, yeah, this looks more like a teaser trailer than a usual TV spot.
Can't wait for Marvel to progress their Netflix series! Personally, I'm not really excited for the Luke Cage show, but then it's only one more for the Defenders series, which I'm already very hyped about (without reading any comics). So let's see how this holds up to the awesome Season 1!
I'm not as invested in the comics as I was a few years ago, so I just kind of take things in as they come and if they get my interest. To be honest, I originally didn't have any interest in seeing Daredevil, but I gave it a shot on a recommendation for a friend and found it to be rather good. It took me two weeks to get through, but as soon as I was done, I started looking forward to Season 2.
I'd highly recommend you watch Jessica Jones btw. For me it stands in a class of it's own in terms of the marvel universe. It does an incredible job of showing exactly how human a lot of these heroes actually are. It's just the right amount of dark, and hopeful. Very excited to see what they do with the Punisher. That nice little skull at the end was really well place.
+1 for JJ from me, too. Very good series, I can see how it's even better than Daredevil for people. I really, really like the villain. He's so awesome and one of the most interesting and original villains I've seen so far. On top of that, he's really well played. The pilot is also really well done, should hook you right away :)
I also liked JJ quite a bit. I haven't finished DD yet, but close. One major difference is that JJ is not quite as violent as DD - I think DD is a little bit disturbing in its extreme fight-scene violence.
Yeah. Some of the violence in Daredevil was a bit on the intense side. On the one hand, I'm kind of glad that Netflix took the series in a direction where they weren't shy about things. On the other hand though, I worry a bit about how many kids watched it because parents though "Oh, it's about a comic book hero. It's for kids."
