24 billion is essentially nothing in the long run. Of bigger concern is the point they bring up -- last project of a dying breed. 24 billion is a chunk that could perhaps have gone to updating the public transportation system, routing traffic around downtown and generally turning Boston into more of a European city.

But they couldn't have known. Anyway, don't try to tell local Austin nuts that big car infrastructure problems are out of vogue. I-35 is racist, east and west must be undivided, etc.
