Hi there! Hubski can be a great place, I think we tend to prefer honesty and value people contributing themselves so if you have any work you want to share or articles that may be a bit esoteric but you find interesting -- don't be afraid to put yourself out there and share it. If you find yourself falling into an argument or being muted by someone, step one is don't take it personally, step two is the secret mantra of Hubski: What can be learned?
To add, contribute what you find interesting. Unlike Reddit, there really isn't any scoring system on Hubski, so not only do the points not matter, there aren't really any points in the first place. So you don't have to really worry about any real gamification here. If you feel that you don't have a lot of things worth posting, like me, you can always join in on the comments. If you click my profile for example, you'll see I post a little, share a lot, and never shut up. ;)
Thanks! I'll see about getting into the habit of posting interesting content here. Can be difficult with new social sites like this when you're used to a bunch of other established ones. Still, the community seems pretty mature and interesting so far. I try to be respectful of anyone I'm conversing with. Hopefully no muting will come of it, but I've been on the Internet long enough not to take that kind of thing personally if it does happen.
