Some VH1 Behind The Music on this one:

1) If you have high-end audio gear, and you do not have it completely and utterly locked down against all bullshit, your buy it now price WILL be hit by a scammer in Cambodia, Thailand, Laos, the Philippines or Malaysia. They will tell you they'll pay triple your price, but first you have to send money to this account so they can set up the wire transfer...

2) If you put "neve" or "SSL" in your auction that isn't for a Neve or SSL console, it will be drive-by-bid by every moron on Gearslutz that thinks they understand audio but doesn't.

3) If you actually own something like a Daking sidecar, and no longer want to own something like a Daking sidecar, you have two choices to get rid of it: (A) paying someone 30-40% consignment to have it sit in their shop for a couple years (and yes, you'll have to freight it there) or (B) eBay, where you'll have to pay eBay 10% and deal with impossible, idiotic, retarded morons from all over the globe but at least the thing stays in your house where you can keep an eye on it rather than having it locked down in a warehouse somewhere where some asshole is charging you 40% NOT to sell it.

'cuz let's be honest. Someone found this because they were searching for "my bloody valentine" late at night, sorted by "price - high-low" and found this thing and sent it in 'cuz it's funny.

It's kinda funny. But it's kinda funny because on the high end shit, this sort of stuff is pretty normal. I myself once sold a 400lb console, for the third time, because the first buyer was in India and the second one was in Bangladesh. The third one ended up costing more to ship to New York than it cost to sell, and there's a story in there, too.

Those of us who occasionally deal in this sort of thing perfectly understand the frustration of interacting with those who don't.
