Hi. Galen here. Recording for meethubski. I'm just sitting in my dorm. I think my neighbors are partying so sorry if there's any background noise.
Anyway, first question: What has changed?
Well, I think the most noticeable change so far is probably my relationship with this girl I met on Tinder. It was kind of weird. I've talked about this in Pubski, but we matched and then it was like a good month before she replied to the message that I sent. But, you know, we hit it off immediately. I think we've maybe texted every day since then. I think that's right. I mean it's only been like a week. She's kind of busy right now. She's at a music competition. We still find time. Which is nice. And we've talked on the phone and such. It's... I don't know, I like hearing people's voices a lot. Which is why I was excited to do a meethubski. So some of you can hear my voice if you haven't already on the radio show.
Okay. Question 2 I guess: Create a new function for Hubski.
Oh man. That is a fun one. I have to say something like a built-in IRC, but even more than that like at least a voice chat. If not video as well. It would be interesting to see how it would function differently between if you had one big group chat where anyone could join or something more like the PM system. Or maybe it could be post-specific. I'm not sure, it seems to me that one of the goals of Hubski, or at least one of the things it's down fairly well, is to humanize its users. And for me, personally, hearing people's voices works wonders towards that end. So I think it would be interesting to incorporate that even more than just having meethubski.
Question 3: What is your message?
I guess right now, this may not hold but in the wake of all of these shootings, terrorism, bombings, my message has to be: Don't lose hope. I don't know if any of you listen to my radio show, a couple days after the Paris attacks, I shared this Facebook post from Patton Oswalt in the aftermath of 9/11. And he basically said, 'It's just so important to keep in mind when things like this happen that acts of terror, of violence, of hate, inevitably get a lot of attention but it's important that we remember fundamentally that the good outnumber those motivated by hate. Motivated by dehumanization. Fundamentally, the good outnumber them. And we always will.'
So keep that in mind. And let that really inform how you act. Even on a day to day basis. Just love people. I don't know. Maybe that's kind of shallow or stupid. But I think it's important. Thanks.

Oh man this is awesome. Thanks so much for producing it! It's strange and cool hearing my own voice in such a different context. Listening back to question 1 is a bit weird now, but not as much as I sort of expected. PS Of course I don't mind you using my music! I love when people use or remix my content :)
Glad you enjoyed it! did you happen to catch the last song?
I agree with his message too. It's sad that such a message could be considered "silly." I would love to have a bunch of these #meethubski posts. They're wonderful to put together and I do think that it's great to hear the voice behind the username. I think we have six or seven so far.
galen, that was a great message man. Didn't sound shallow in the slightest and I think it's something we all should be reminded of from time to time. thenewgreen, if it isn't any trouble, could you add my name to the shout out list?
Well, there's the irc embedded in the site (if my terminology is correct). Big fan of that. As for voice chat, Discord is a plausibility. Not all the features, but contemporary model that can IRC in a run for its money. Free servers allow for many chat channels for different discussions as well as voice chats. Just throwing it out there, not likely to see the light of day. Maybe not. That is a fun one. I have to say something like a built-in IRC, but even more than that like at least a voice chat.
