I never paid much attention to Karen Caroenters drumming, but she was good. I don't think she gets enough credit for it. She is forever shrouded by her unfortunate disease and death.
Not my kind of music but once in a while I'll pop on a Caroenters record. Their music was everywhere when I was a small boy.
I have SO much respect for drummers who play and sing. I can barely play bass and sing - though for some reason singing and guitar is like pb and j. I mean, you might not like them or their music, but you can't deny that guys like Don Henley and Phil Collins are amazing players and Singers. Levon Helm from the Band is above reproach as both a singer and a drummer. And speaking of amazing lady musicians: Carol Kaye, Session Great, played bass on the Beach Boys' "Good Vibrations" The Wilson Sisters from Heart Tal Wilkenfeld, who's done some backup playing for Beck, as well as some solo stuff.
