Eventually we got out and started a fire. I remember the Beatles Revolver was playing and I climbed up a hill and sat next to a tree that looked down on our campsite. My friends joined me up there and we smoked some more. We were now peaking and the tree began to look as though it had a face and was directing us to look at our campsite. I saw the lake creeping it's shoreline closer and closer to where we sat (in reality 25 yards away) and eventually the water was at my side. I sat by the tree and attempted to run my hands through the water. The face in the tree was friendly and the music seemed to have an effect on it. -Wonderful stuff.
I left the tree and headed down to the fire to re-join my friends. We were all coming down now and unfortunately we were out of pot. We kept saying "I wish we had more pot, that would really help kick this back in".
Then down the trail we saw a light bouncing left, then right, then up, then down and all over the place. We didn't know what the hell it was then as it got closer we saw that it was a bicycle piloted by a man with a headlamp on. He rode right up to our campfire and said, "hey... you guys want to smoke a joint?" -No bullshit! Our prayers had been answered (perhaps by the face in the tree?). We smoked with him, he told us about his love for "night riding", our buzzes kicked back in and then he took off.
From then on out, we referred to him as "The Midnight Rider" and would often play the Allman Bros song in remembrance of the occasion
Good times.
I have some other stories too, some great and some horrible.
How about you guys? psychotropic is a pretty broad category...
I read a few good books and then started in on Aleister Crowley's fourth book of magic. It slowed me down big time, I just couldn't devour it. The first half of the book is about meditation, perception and mental control topics. Nothing too crazy, that is what the second, and for me unreadable half is about (wands, scepters, crowns, alters, practice of magick, ect...) I would read a section before bed. After doing this about three times I had the most curious experience. I "woke" in a sparse chamber, sitting in the middle of a comfortable cushion in a room with black pillars and white curtains obscuring my view out of the area. The whole place was very pleasant, not a stark uncomfortable black and white. Sitting across from me was a man in a classy robes who was with out a doubt Alistair himself. We had a dialog about the world and consciousness and then meditated together for several hours. It was a very pleasant and stimulating experience. The next night I read a section, went to bed and once more awoke in presence of The Great Beast. We had another dialog, and meditated for the rest of the night. This continued throughout my reading of the first half of the book. When I reached the 2nd half on practical magick I had no dreams of any significance. I don't think Aleister himself was came to visit me in my dreams, it was a little show my brain put on for me. Aleister seem to have been a first class bastard in life. Brilliant and talented but pretty much a dick, at least that is what I got from reading a biography about him a few years ago, but the dreams were magnificent.
- I'd write more on the matter, but I don't normally like discussing psychedelic experiences in post, feel it weakens the message.
Thanks for sharing.
