I bought a new Subaru Outback a few months ago. It's the best car I've ever owned. We also have a Grand Cherokee. The Outback drives like a champ and the safety features are amazing. Distance control and lane control are automated. Conceivably, I could drive long distances without ever having my hands on the wheel or my foot on the pedals. -except it will beep at you and flash "hands on the wheel." -As it should. If the car in front of me abruptly stops or a deer walks in the road, the car will stop. It's an amazing vehicle. A glimpse of the future. Get one.
