Not a bad option, when able. There ought to be a watch that can record and stream to a remote storage. A phone can, but it's pretty obvious.

Why hide the fact?

I don't think it's that simple. People often forget that usually it's the journalist that is in the power position. If someone is willing to sit in front of someone that might "co-opt their narrative", they must have something they really need. Usually, this is exposure to a large audience. This is why you would "hide the fact", because otherwise they may not give you the exposure you so desire. -This exchange is the bulk of journalism.

This is the mindset of loss. Overcome it.

Forget journalism. This statement is so true in all of life. Defeatism and fatalism dominate the lives of too many people. I would love to direct anyone who is interested to Bertrand Russell's The Conquest of Happiness, an amazing long form essay on the nature and history of unhappiness (which also, given that it was written in the 1930s, dispels all the BS one reads about how the digital age has led to feelings of isolation and exacerbated depression, problems that have existed since the dawn of thought).

I have a fairly low regard for Bertie. Full of pretty words but when push came to shove ..

Both you fellas are preaching to the choir. I live by a very simple philosophy "you create your own luck in life". In no way do I carry the mindset of loss, at all. I'm a highly functional dude, all because I recognize that my accomplishments are all well within my control. To paraphrase Walter Sobchak, paraphrasing Theodor Herzl, "If you will it, it is no dream".

My point was that when you enter in to a situation where you know a person has an agenda, yet you need to utilize their soap box...best to document the occasion. Secretly.

Insurance, not defeatism.

For the record I was speaking in general terms. To everyone. Definitely I know you're a positive person. I just thought alpha0's comment was worth highlighting.

I was really just using it as a way to quote Walter Sobchak.

I couldn't agree more with your sentiment and I appreciate the Bertrand Russel suggestion. I've not read his work, and it's time I did. I remember liking this post though.

Elaborate. Is it not simply the facts? If you write for a publication that reaches millions of people and I wish to talk to you about an exciting idea I have but not many people have heard about, who holds the power?

I tend to think that revolutions are a bad idea. One exception comes to mind, but that's ancient history. Regardless, it failed.

But the context of this post is "revolution". And really, what kind of revolutionary sits and moans about the powers that be? You want to revolt? Then revolt already and stop talking about "power of journalism".

I think there are examples of this happening and every time I witness it, I'm encouraged.

-Here, here! I love it when traditional media is chasing citizen journalism. This is the wave of the future imo. Crowd sourced media supplemented by some long form journalism (i hope) is where we are headed.

But I agree, what type of revolutionary complains that the traditional media sources won't give them equal footing?

True enough. But, it could be useful in general, like when law enforcement approaches your protest, or any time when you feel sufficiently threatened or coerced.

"The Revolution Governments World Wide Don’t Want You To Know About".

Ponder.
