One of the oddest predictions of quantum theory – that a system can't change while you're watching it – has been confirmed in an experiment by Cornell physicists.
Remember that "observing" does not mean "human being seeing this thing" it means "interactions with other particles". If we "observe" something we view the light bouncing off the atom, and it's that light bouncing off of something, that interaction we use to tell something is there, that is the act of observation, not some "human beings are significant" bullshit. The researchers demonstrated that they were able to suppress quantum tunneling merely by observing the atoms.
