Wish it weren't true but I don't think anything like this coming out of China is at all trustworthy. The students they picked to take the test were probably their best and brightest.

Maybe so, but nevertheless, it appears that China's educational demands are much tougher than western standards as illustrated by the comparison between university entrance tests: Maths enthusiasts are being challenged to answer a sample question from Chinese university entrance tests.
