I guess epigenetics puts the last nail in the coffin of Dawkin's Selfish Gene.

Yes, I never understood why genes should be the centerpiece as evolution, or why it was beneficial to consider the perspective. IMHO, The Selfish Gene confused people. Even the term evolution itself is loaded, as it presupposses that there is a preservation of some essential essence or characteristic that can be traced back over time. Each and every part is replacable.
Now we see that even 'parts' are not enough to define an organism. :)
