"Regardless of social demographic, the response is overwhelmingly positive. I can feel the balance i’ve placed in the rocks transmit a sense of peace to spectators. Many comment on the garden being the most interesting thing they’ve seen in a long time. With kids, the rocks are usually met with curiosity. More often than not, kids will attempt to build their own cairns using small rocks and other natural objects. One of my favorite effects that i see my gardens have on people is the ability to suspend reality for a moment with the seemingly impossible balance. I would encourage anyone to try balancing, especially kids. The practice is healthy for both body and mind and arguably a form of yoga the way it encourages fine attention to body movement and breath. It teaches discipline and patience while slowing your thoughts to a contemplative state. One reason i cannot stop doing it is because of the silencing effect it has on my mind. I literally think about nothing, which is the basis for deep meditation."
