When I edited this post, it didn't provide the backslashes needed to escape the stars.
Minimal reproducer:
\* Hi, I'm a list.Edit: oddly, the backslash is kept for the editor in the above indented block, though it is removed from display if there is only one.
Edit: If there are two backslashes, it is removed from editing and shows a backslash, then does italics up to the next *. I thought code blocks were supposed to disable formatting?
Edit: with three, it drops to two on edit but displays correctly.
