"Americans now walk the least of any industrialized nation in the world," says writer Tom Vanderbilt. To find out why that is, Vanderbilt has been exploring how towns are built, how Americans view walking — and what might be done to get them moving around on their own two feet.
I'm recovering from cancer and I've started walking everywhere to circulate my lymph and generally improve my health. I walk 35 minutes to work and back and I'm loving it. I used to always be too busy to walk anywhere, but once I commited to the idea and schedule for it, it's easy and yes I do have the time. It's been great for my mental health also, a quiet start and end to the work day.

I enjoy walking too, I always have. It's nice to be able to walk by yourself and just take in your surrounding. I guess I meander more than I walk.
I'm glad you were able to infuse your life with some more peacefulness. Good luck with your recovery and enjoy those walks!
