Honestly - people who are called high-functioning autistic, today, are brilliant people. They're closer to that eccentric scientist/artist than they are to people who need help (it doesn't mean they don't need it, but they can go on somewhat with their lives).

I'm not convinced that high-function autism isn't mankind's future, even. We always evolved towards intelligence - and some forms of autism, while poorly adapted to this society, are actually a step towards that.

Then again - who, in life, never needed help...

As someone on the 'higher functioning' end of the autistic spectrum, thank you.
