I live in Istanbul and the number of cats here is staggering. There are about 3 parks within a 5 minute walk of my apartment where you can sit down, and within a few minutes you will have at least 5 kittens on your lap. It's great, except at night when the female cats are in heat. It's pretty loud. On an unrelated note, the person that runs the cat refuge in Cihangir, Hilary Sable, is my coworker! We work together at an English school here in Istanbul. Small world!
i love it! when i lived in israel there was one cat in particular that used to hang out around our lodging and was brazen enough to walk into people's rooms as she saw fit. the first time i ever heard a cat in heat was in jordan. i thought someone was getting murdered...
So I take it Istanbul doesn't have a pigeon problem?I live in Istanbul and the number of cats here is staggering. There are about 3 parks within a 5 minute walk of my apartment where you can sit down, and within a few minutes you will have at least 5 kittens on your lap.
the massive cat population in the mediterranean is due to British colonialism! the brits brought cats to deal with rats and now there are cats everywhere
