I switched to vaping about two years ago. Immediate improvements included no stink and no tobacco everywhere (used to roll them.) The switch still didn't come without some severe withdrawal symptoms, though. I think this was mostly psychological, but the additional addictive additives in tobacco may have had something to do with it.

After a few weeks, I noticed that the early morning coughs started going away. Also, my sense of smell and taste improved. A few months, and I was breathing better. Also, Massive (with a capital m) financial savings.

Nowadays, I mix my own juice (basically, nicotine fluid plus whatever aroma I feel like). I also use rebuildable atomizers, so maintenance involves a bit of cotton for the wicks and some wire.

Interestingly enough, I've found myself gradually using less and less nicotine for my liquids. I'm at about 2/3 of the strength I started with. Can't say the same about cigarettes. That addiction only knew one direction.

Anyways, I'd never tell a non-smoker to go and buy an E-Cig. But if anyone here is still a smoker, I'd wholeheartedly advise them to give vaping a chance. Although all studies I know of don't point in that direction, it is of course possible that decades from now, some health related downsides of vaping emerge. Well, compare that possibility to smoking. You know there's a huge chance that it's going to kill you horribly, and even if it doesn't, you still to pay ridiculous money so you can cough while you smell bad.

I'll be happy to answer any vaping-related questions...
