Last week, we mentioned that a change would be coming to chatter.
That change has come.
Starting today, your chatter shows badged comments, the comments of people that you follow, and comments that they have shared with you.
That means that clicking on a hubwheel next to a comment shares it with your followers.
Also, on your chatter page (and other pages featuring comments), you can now see who has shared a comment, and who shared it with you.
As always, feedback is much appreciated.
everyone circledot this comment for, uh, testing purposes so I can see who shares my junk on chatter.
Today I followed some links in my chatter and noticed they were in topics I had filtered. If I follow someone and the share a topic I filter, it doesn't show up in my feed. But if they boop a comment in a topic I filter, it does show up in my chatter. My opinion is it shouldn't. It's a topic I've decided I'm uninterested in. Other thoughts?
Question: Can somebody see if they're having the same issue I am? If you go to your notifications and try to reply to something that's older from there (older than 3 days) does it let you reply or does it send you back to the top of the page? I'm having the latter happen right now.
I like it a lot but two things. One, it only goes back a couple hours, then nothing. Two, I wish there was a way for me to see the shares independent of chatter, so that when I see a particularly dumb or vile comment that's been upvoted from someone who definitely wouldn't been in my chatter I can easily figure out whom to avoid.
Mine goes back, and "more" works for me. But everything below hitting "more" does not show "shared by X."
Does it perhaps only go back as far as it's been implemented? Like anything you up-hubbed previous to the change may not count. As for the second point, I would hope that filter user lists also filter them from chatter?
The biggest way in which I encountered blocked users in my feed/chatter...I kept seeing comments from people I follow who were engaged in arguments with the people I was blocking. Arguing with the blocked person in comments, replying to posts submitted by the blocked person. Much like how on tumblr, when people, instead of replying to negative DMs privately, they responded publicly, and thus it got into my feed. I'll keep an eye out on my feed/chatter to see if the changes you made fixed that issue. Hopefully it does. Thanks!
It really should have. Much more symmetry. IIRC we didn't because we wanted to preserve anonymity in comment sharing, but I can't remember why I thought that was necessary or advantageous. It just makes more sense this way. I wonder if it will reduce the circle-dotting of comments, however (which might not be a bad thing).
