So, hello everybody! It's been a while, daaamn. I'm sorry for the really pretentious title, I didn't actually mean to imply that someone on the internet would actually notice my inactivity, I just think that that's a cool quote (while not actually having been said by Mark Twain -- though it should've).
Anyway, there's a reason why I'm typing this out -- well, there should be at least. I mean, people in general do things with a purpose, even if they don't fully understand it.
I've been away for so much time for a number of reasons -- I had to go back home for a family member's birthday, where the internet is worse than in Uganda (full disclosure, I've never tried Ugandan internet), so at a certain point I just quit trying to do stuff online. I was there for a week or so and then this amazing oportunity to travel presented itself and I took it -- so I was away in Spain for another week or so. I love travelling and sadly I haven't been getting to as often as I would like it -- mostly due to not having enough funds to do so -- so getting a chance to travel for almost nothing was awesome! I got to stay at some friends house and have a lot of fun.
When I came back I arrived at my place and there was a friend in town whom I hadn't seen in about a year so I didn't even get to turn on my computer -- I just left to go meet him. The next day, while extremely hungover, I was asked whether I wanted to spend a week or so in a relative's place (which would be empty, so all to myself) in the northen part of the country and I instantly agreed (who wouldn't?), so I simply went home and grabbed my already packed bag from Spain and off I went.
So that's where I am right now -- there were a ton of times I'd have liked to go on hubsky and see what was going on and check in with all of you cool peepz but it turns out that wifi (or at least free wifi) is very scarce in places such as Spain and more backwards parts of my own country. So I've been internet free for something like a month -- and is something that is surprisingly freeing, actually. I'm at a caffe right now, which does have free wifi, where I had to come due to having to deal with college stuff online and emails and crap. I'll be going back home in a bit, and I don't have internet there. I do have to come back here tomorrow, to check out emails, and so I'll try to write another "Neural Networks with Corvus" until then so I can just post it -- even though I'm sure most people don't even know what I'm talking about because it's been so long.
On a good note, my productivity has been at an all time high in regards to writing, coding and more! It sucks to not be able to access the internet but it's also freeing, creatively. Also, I've met a lot of cool people over the last month (even though I've been living alone in a huge ass house for the last week, hermit-style. It's cool to go to a village where you don't know anyone and live there for a while alone).
Anyway, sorry for this really self-absorbed post about my life -- I just felt I should tell you guys why I've been missing, even though everyone's got their own stuff to worry about. Maybe you could respond to this post with what's been going on with your life over the last month or so, and we could make this a cool summer experience post!
Being internet free for a little while is very freeing experience, I completely agree. It allows you to not worry about everything happening online and focus on that which is in front of you. Nice to see you posting again, it would be great to see some sort of a #tripreport (to second Cedar). I moved across the country to start working my first post-college job, which has been good so far! It was a beautiful drive across the country and if you have some free time and want to read up on it you can find that post here. That's about the gist of my summer, moving, settling into the west coast, and starting a new job. Normally this time of year is when I'd be returning to college, but not this time, which is a weird feeling.Maybe you could respond to this post with what's been going on with your life over the last month or so, and we could make this a cool summer experience post!
Funnily enough, the other day I was wondering where you'd gotten to as I was waiting for more on neural nets :), don't feel like you have to instantly come back and start posting though -- it sounds like you've had a fun few weeks and you should keep enjoying it while you can, if you took photos you could do a #tripreport!
