I'm not sure I see the reasoning here. I don't see why we should think that our universe resides within something. There is a bigger multiverse in which rounded universes are moving about and bumping into one another? There is space around our space?

Recursive self-similar spatial hierarchy. [Edit: question mark ;P]

Like atoms and the solar system? :) I suppose I see the motivation, but my guess is that space only exists for those within it. No harm looking for this stuff, at any rate.

Come on, mk :) I'm betting my farm on the idea (axiomatic for me) that sentient reality is 'sampled', and 'cyclical'. To me that means that ultimately group theoretic principles inform morphology.

I would actually agree with that. But I do not think you would agree with why I do. :) [Not above.] And further, that each such space is deeply structured by the 'observational bias' of the sentient 'contained' 'within'.

All this stuff always comes back to the open question of Consciousness ...

By the first sentient?

Agreed. That and trees falling alone in the woods. :)

Here is one take. The Abrahamic texts are rather insistent on this:

Genesis 1:4. (The Qur'anic input is far too inaccessible, but these two books complement one another.)

The act of 'creation' -- what we are talking about -- is defined as the sequence { Say, See, Divide/cleave}. "God Said", "God Saw", "God Divided".

We (subject) sentients have 'cleaving' at our disposal. {0, 1}, if you will. Our cognition is based on differentiation, our sensory apparatus measure deltas. Per promises made (e.g. "If you say to this mountain 'move!' ..", the subject sentient will progress up that creative sequence as it desolves the 'ego'/'self' in the "Divine One". Then you get to 'say, see, and divide' and it will be.

Been looking for that paper. Pretty sure it was PhysOrg but google is failing me :)
