    Do you think that perhaps victimization is the new way to compete; the idea that the more you suffer the more of a "person" is now how we are judged?
If it is then I would argue you are actively taking part in it with this post. Being demonized and having their feelings dismissed are in fact the exact things minorities are fighting against.

I don't really have some kind of "gotcha" point to that. I just wanted to point it out as something to think about.

I agree with you. JTHipster, if you want to exist outside of the victimization contest it's up to you. Nobody can force you to participate. They say you are what you eat, meaning be wary of where you spend your time and what content you consume. If you have a problem with r/atheism/lgbt, then stop going there. Period. By visiting a place that you know brings you pain, you are voluntarily participating in this cycle.
