I'm all moved in. I have my own room again. My own room. I haven't had my own room in almost three years. The place is nice and clean and my roommate is a friend of mine for the past 7ish years so it's pretty awesome. We might get a cat. It's also only a 10 minute walk to the campus and work - even if five of those minutes are spent walking up a steep hill, haha. Also back at work and eating healthier. I've lost 10 pounds. I replaced waffles with Greek Yogurt, blueberries and milk, and now I don't feel as sleepy and low on energy throughout the day. Going to learn new recipes starting next week. All that's left to worry about is school, but at least even if that situation is shitty, now the situation surrounding it is nice enough that it'll feel more bearable. Edit: Oh yeah, went to the orthopedics. My doctor walked in, saw my feet, gasped, and went "we operate on people with feet like yours." Luckily it won't have to come to that. This week they're dipping my feet and making casts based on that so that I'll finally have arch supports.
Slow cookers are amazing. Toss whatever you want in there and walk away. Food is magically done by supper time. Technology!
Pressure cookers are great as well. I just haven't used mine as much for whatever reason. Been looking at a sous-vide but haven't taken the leap yet.
Someone else mentioned slow cookers, and I also highly recommend investing in one if you don't have one. Benefits include: - delicious oatmeal in the morning in winter - pot roasts, chili, soups, warm meals waiting for you when you get home from a long day at school, which require little effort. You can also use "cheaper" (i.e. tougher, but more flavourful) cuts of meat because they'll break down over the course of the day. --- Also, congrats on proper arch support. I think you'll find it makes your whole life easier.
Nice! It's always good to have your own room even when you roommate is a close friend. I shared a room in college with one of my best friends and it was so terrible...some people just don't live together well. Hope everything is awesome :D Pro tip: get a slow cooker. You can make pretty healthy food and it is so easy!! Just throw some shit in there in the morning and when you come back from campus the whole apartment smells like delicious food and it's all ready to go.
