I am very smart and clicked the comment submit button instead of the tag submit button.
The comment was thus empty and I was sent to a "try again" page, which is fully expected for empty comments. The "try again" page has a tag link but this tag link is nonfunctional and so I couldn't try tagging again on that particular page.
