Take everything with a grain of salt though and read from many different sources. Everything has a little bit of bias and can miss details. http://onpolitics.usatoday.com/2014/10/01/greg-orman-obama-senate-ad-kansas/ So go to lots of sources. Politicians by nature strictly control their public image. The wider diversity of stories the richer understanding you will have.

Write them a letter and see if you get a form back or something more personal. You can also go online and watch their videos. Look for interviews though, not campaign material. It is biased.
