Is This It...talk about an album that never could have existed in any other context or time period. When New York was starving for rock The Strokes came along and captured the loneliness and confusion of the city in a perfect album. The only downside was that it set the bar so high that nothing they ever could have made would be as revered as Is This It, which is still one of my favorite albums.
I was too young to be aware of the Strokes when this first came out, but I can attest that it is absolutely still the quintessential soundtrack for youthful tomfoolery.
I need it on vinyl, it would have been perfect tonight while we played Dominion. -yes, I'm a dork.
Funny enough, I'm listening to this album right now
I was driving today, it was sunny out and I was nostalgic for a time of my life when this album was the soundtrack. It's been many years. I enjoyed hearing it with some fresh-ish ears. Great energy.
