Just as an aside, I pulled this up while editing, which means it plays over the crazy-expensive Genelec system.

It interests me that the best production values and attention to detail I hear on music these days is all on bluegrass. Makes me want to listen to more bluegrass.

There's a lot of good bluegrass and alt country bands out there. For fear of swamping you with too much, I'll just drop one of my more favorite modern bluegrass bands.

The Punch Brothers are pretty good.

I think I once heard a thing with Yo-Yo Ma when he said the people whom he knew who had the best rhythmic accuracy were all bluegrass players. He should know.

That Yo-Yo Ma track is really something.

That whole album is pretty legit (though as usual with an Edgar Meyer album, there are one or two duds). Every guy on it is also top notch. Chris Thile and Edgar Meyer are both MacArthur Grant recipients.

I don't know much about production quality but I do love some bluegrass. The banjo player and sometimes singer on this soundtrack is also fantastic and has an amazing voice. You might like it too.
