I love this! I'm definitely about to go through the whole playlist. I think it's a mistake to believe that pop music can't possibly have depth and musical interest. However, it's a sentiment I hear expressed often. Especially by people who maintain that music is an important factor in their lives. I don't think it need have anything to do with deflating classical music though. There's music to like or dislike in both genres. It just feels regressive and maybe a tad "high school" to me to try and bolster any corner of music at the expense of another. Somewhat related, here's Nile Rodgers (pop genius and rhythm guitar legend) talking about some of the songs he wrote for Chic. There's some very jazzy chord progressions to be lifted from this dude.
