Is it me or is there a lot of "allegedlys" in this piece? She allegedly was unhappy when he was in office. "Sources say" their marriage suffered. etc. Sounds like she's not someone that craves the spotlight. There have been first ladies in the past that didn't crave the spotlight. It's alright to be a person that likes to be left alone. I don't know much about Jeb, but I do think he's got a shot at the nomination. I mean, Trump basically called his wife a rapist. -Not sure how long he can stay in the #1 spot. It’s true that she has adopted first-lady-worthy causes, working with the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse, and Arts for Life, a group that gives scholarships to young artists. By all accounts, she advocates earnestly and effectively, visiting shelters, studying reports on addiction in adolescence, putting together exhibitions, and connecting donors with charities. Everyone I interviewed who’s worked with her says she doesn’t seek the limelight, nor even any recognition for her actions—which is admirable. It’s admirable, too, that she’s been able to remain, well, normal, despite her marriage into such a high-powered political clan. But...
-NO. No "but." It's admirable. Leave the lady alone.
I have this thought that Trump is just there to make the rest of the Republicans look a whole lot better, and boy is he doing a good job at that. I can put this article in two words "Who cares?". Columba isn't running for president. No one is voting for her to be in office. She isn't the person that should be in news articles. Really the only thing I can see what him marrying Columba would be tied to is his view on immigration. Even then I think it is a bit pushing it. Also their marriage status shouldn't be covered as "journalism". I mean there are so many politicians that are Catholic that have been married several times, and may I add that getting a divorce (without probable cause) is frowned upon Catholic society. This is Jeb's first marriage and they've been going strong for about twenty years. It just frustrates me when the media talks about a candidates family "issues" instead of their platform and work. If they wanted to make an article about Columba they should have solely made it on her accomplishments. For example, her work with
Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse
This would make a good article on her work accolades.
