So my friend wants to be a tattoo artist. That means drawing with an electric gun on someones sweaty skin. There is no room for error. Fernando practiced drawing every day from anatomy books, botany books, whatever. He would literally draw the same thing over and over and over and over again until his hand learned the form.
"I've seen some really bad tattoos on some friends of mine." And he also showed me his own first tattoo job on a friend. He had botched it so badly that he covered one of the poor (ex:) friend's legs below the knee in black ink. [edit: anyway, I brought this up really to point out that effective realism is a matter of obsessive discipline and practice, practice.]
[edit] this is better as you can see the details: http://www.anilgupta.com/largepics/spiritual/FernandoBecker0... (Btw, I am completely anti-tatoo (for me) myself. Not a mark on my body.)
