Reddit today reminds me of the heyday of kuro5hin. It too had been a revamp of another site, Slashdot. Just as Reddit was a competitor to Digg. And it too had a toxic community who fractured the site spewing hate and vitriol. And then it died.

Reddit seems lively. There remains a huge influx of unique visitors. Advertisers salivate at what Alexis and the board plans. But it won't last. They better maximize that revenue generation quick or they'll not have a chance to sell at the top. Because the rollercoaster has already started heading downhill.
